The MPU has, for a long time, tried to grab attention to the growing problem of violence against members of the force, arguing that the number of incidents is not uncommon. “The role of the police has become one of the most dangerous jobs in relation to work related injuries, however there is no insurance policy to offset the damages suffered in these circumstances. The only coverage offered by the Government is in cases of death or severe injury which leads to a degree of disability.

The MPU expect that such persons receive appropriate penalties, when found guilty that reflect the seriousness of the case and the parameters of the Law.
