Free travel on Public Transport | Nothing new

Reference is being made to news articles published today re Increased Police Presence and Free Travel for Police Officers on the Public Transport.
    5
We remind that Police Officers travelled free since 1966.
In 1971, this was limited only to Police Officers in Uniform and in 2011, was re-gained again for non-uniformed officers upon presentation of a valid Police Identification Document.
There is nothing new in this except for the burden, a Police Officer now has to apply and use the tallinja card when previous to this issue, he/she just had to show their legal credentials.
The Union is not against extra Police presence to ensure safety, however things should be said as they are.

Has this story been issued today to divert the attention from other issued the Union is contending as this MOU dated back to June 2021 and not today?.
